Our Story
The House of Hope and Healing (3H) Counseling Center began as a collaborative ministry between the Pastoral Care Mission Center (PCMC) and the First Presbyterian Church of New Hyde Park. To know the 3H Counseling Center, one needs to understand PCMC. PCMC initially began as a professional training institution accredited by AAPC (American Association of Pastoral Counselors) for pastoral care providers, which integrated the knowledge of psychology and spirituality. Later PCMC expanded its ministry and program including joint missions for small churches for outreach through the Coram Deo Mission, and offering care to those in need through the Hope-Bearing Ministry. In its process of expansion, PCMC recognized the needs for an integrated counseling center capable of providing spiritual care.
With dedication and commitment of Pastor Joshua H Jong, the first director of 3 H, the counseling center officially opened its doors on Sunday, June 4, 2017. It is located on the second floor of the education building of the First Presbyterian Church. The opening was celebrated with a thanksgiving service, attended by various dignitaries including the mayor of the Village of New Hyde Park and executives from the Long Island Presbytery of Presbyterian Church USA. Currently, 3H is registered as a non-profit organization under the umbrella of PCMC. Please contact PCMC for more information.
